Traveling solo, especially as a woman, is a wonderful adventure filled with unique experiences and discoveries. As someone who works in the international development sector and travels solo around the world, India was an exciting and enriching destination. While attending the Care and Climate Entrepreneurship Accelerator kick-off in South Asia, I made sure to set aside time to visit the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra. With safety as my top priority, I carefully planned and curated this trip to fully enjoy all that this beautiful and vibrant country has to offer. Since I only had one day, I thought, why not use it to visit Agra and see one of the seven wonders of the world? This was truly a #TravelExperiencesWithCare journey.
One of the first steps was ensuring my journey to and from the Taj Mahal was smooth and secure. Given the limited time I had, I didn’t want to miss any moment and wanted to make the most of my visit. A safe and reliable driver was arranged well in advance, which gave me peace of mind and assurance that my valuables and luggage would be well cared for. More importantly, this driver knew the nooks and corners of which streets to take to avoid traffic, which proved invaluable. This step made all the difference in feeling comfortable on the road and breathed a sigh of relief knowing I wouldn’t miss any time at the Taj Mahal, an essential part of the #TravelExperiencesWithCare.
Arriving at the monument itself was another moment of wonder and delight. It truly was ethereal, I had to pause and take it all in. The check-in process at the Taj Mahal was seamless, allowing me to begin my visit without any hassle. To enrich my experience, I had a guide pre-selected who spoke fluent English, making our conversations easy and engaging. This choice helped me appreciate the rich history and intricate artistry of the monument without any language barriers. I was so glad to learn about the fascinating history behind this marvellous marble mausoleum. This thoughtful curation highlights the essence of #TravelExperiencesWithCare.
Being a solo traveller also means staying alert. I was warned about pickpockets around busy tourist spots, a necessary heads-up that kept me vigilant without spoiling the experience. Knowing about potential risks helped me stay safe while soaking in the breathtaking views. And the best part, I clicked photos striking the classic poses, which might seem silly to some but brought me tons of joy.
Beyond the beauty of the Taj Mahal, this journey reminded me of the development opportunities that travel offers. Engaging with locals, learning from my guide, and simply observing the daily life around the monument added meaningful layers to my visit, where the warmth of human connection felt just as grand as the marble mausoleum itself. This fuller, richer travel experience is what #TravelExperiencesWithCare aims to create.
In all, my solo trip to the Taj Mahal was more than sightseeing; it was a thoughtfully curated experience grounded in safety, learning, and the joy of discovery. For global solo travellers like me, careful planning ensures that travel is not only inspiring but truly empowering. This is the true spirit of #TravelExperiencesWithCare.
