This journey from Canada to India was years in the making – a trip planned by a group of long-time friends, eager to experience a country new to most of us.
With the careful planning of SilverGenie Wanderlust, the experience was shaped to allow comfortable, slow exploration, letting us fully absorb the incredible richness of each location.
Our introduction to India was the vibrant city of Mumbai. From the moment we landed, the city felt alive, a rhythm of vibrant streets and warm people that set the tone for the entire trip. The logistics, expertly handled by SilverGenie Wanderlust (airport assistance, comfortable transport, and clear coordination), were seamless, allowing us to focus entirely on the experience rather than the details.
Sharing every moment as friends made the exploration even richer. We constantly exchanged reactions, pointed out fascinating details from the car windows, and relived the day’s discoveries over dinner.
From modern city life, we transitioned to the profound history of Aurangabad. Visiting the ancient cave complexes and historical sites offered our first deep encounter with centuries of art, spirituality, and craftsmanship carved into stone.
The local guides brought the past to life, explaining not just what we were seeing, but the significance of these places. These conversations continued long after the tours, as we discussed the history and wondered at the creation of such remarkable structures.
The journey then led us to Kolkata, a city with a deeply cultural, reflective pace. This provided a welcome slowdown after several travel days, allowing us to truly appreciate the itinerary’s thoughtful pacing. The time spent here felt relaxed, not rushed, thanks to the small but crucial details: comfortable transport, attentive coordination, and flexibility.
Our next major phase was the historic Golden Triangle – exploring Agra, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and the surrounding areas before concluding in Delhi.
While standing before the Taj Mahal was an undeniable emotional peak, the journey was equally defined by smaller, more intimate moments: walking through colourful markets, observing daily life in narrow streets, and pausing at quiet temples and courtyards.
We spent an evening in Jaisalmer, experiencing the vast desert landscape and its changing hues at sunset. In Jaipur, the vibrant crafts, architecture, and local traditions added another layer of cultural immersion. Every city unveiled a new, living story.
The true magic often unfolded during the quieter times. Evenings became essential for reflection: sharing meals, discussing the day’s discoveries, and simply sitting together. These conversations evolved into the most memorable parts of our trip.

Looking back, the strongest memory is not a single monument, but the shared experience of discovering India together, the laughter during long drives, the thoughtful historical discussions, and the quiet awe we felt absorbing the beauty around us.
India introduced us to an incredible world of heritage and life. Experiencing it as a group of friends, supported by the thoughtful care of SilverGenie Wanderlust, made the journey profoundly meaningful and comfortable.
This was a journey about both incredible destinations and the people we shared them with.
