Reflecting on the recent journey, I can’t help but smile at the vivid memories we carried back. The serene ambiance of Darjeeling, the charming hills of Kalimpong, and the peaceful town of Kurseong formed the perfect backdrop for exploration.
One of the highlights was the simple joys—the tea and pakoda sessions in the cozy corners of our dreamy hotel, accompanied by storytelling that ranged from humorous to downright grotesque. After a day of wandering and sightseeing, these moments of laughter and camaraderie were pure delight. Even more memorable was the company: people of varied backgrounds, all senile in years yet bubbling with life, sharing stories, smiles, and a genuine connection.
The itinerary allowed for a gentle rhythm: a little sightseeing, a pause to breathe in the fresh mountain air, and spontaneous moments of connection with nature and each other. Every activity, every sight, and every pause felt thoughtfully balanced, letting the pace of the hills and the mountains set the tone. Small gestures of care along the way added a comforting ease to the journey.
From the first morning to the last drop-off at Tulsidas and Archana Mandal’s residence, the travel days flowed seamlessly, each moment offering laughter, quiet reflection, and a sense of ease in movement and company.
This journey was more than sightseeing—it was an experience of shared laughter, heartfelt conversations, and gentle reminders that age is no barrier to discovery. Returning home, hearts full and spirits lifted, there is a quiet anticipation for future journeys—more mountains, more stories, more laughter, and more moments of simple joy.
